Harvey is attempting a feat that few other musician has ever before attempted; she’s embarking on a solo tour that will hit all 50 States in the span of 61 days.

Guinness World Records has confirmed that no one yet holds the record for the “Fastest 50-State Tour by a Solo Female Musician,” as it’s officially dubbed, and has provided guidelines for Harvey’s venture.

“It’s a rite of passage for me, first and foremost,” Harvey said, “but it’s also the ultimate challenge for a touring musician. If you’re going to do it, why not do it all at once and make a spectacle of yourself?”

Fans will be able to hitch a ride along the tour route in cyberspace by logging on to Harvey’s Web site, lisharvey.com. The singer will also be posting daily journal entries.

While Harvey will be a first for Guinness, she’s not the first musician to attempt the feat. Nearly 20 years ago, George Thorogood & The Destroyers set out on his 50/50 Tour, in which the band played 50 states in 50 days. The only catch was that in order to accommodate travel time to the Hawaiian and Alaskan frontiers, the group sometimes would play two shows in two different states on the same day.

Harvey’s tour sets out August 15 and hits – what else? – all 50 States through October 15.
