Young singer-songwriter Howie Day supports throughout the 27-date run of theatre-size venues. Day had sold several thousand copies of his debut album, Australia, through his Web site when Epic Records signed him and re-released the disc.

Opening for Amos is a big deal. Her fans are particularly passionate, and if someone is good enough to tour with Tori, well, they must be pretty darn good. Rufus Wainwright filled the slot with aplomb on her last outing and came away with loads of new fans.

It’s been about a year since Amos’ last tour, which supported Strange Little Girls, an album of unique cover songs that marked the end of her long relationship with Atlantic Records.

Her upcoming disc, Scarlet’s Walk, is “a sonic novel in which each song represents a specific stop on the way across America. The central figure on the album is Scarlet, a woman who crisscrosses the country in search of answers, in search of herself.”
