Both Stone Sour and Chevelle have been in the press quite often lately. Lead by vocalist Corey Taylor, Stone Sour are viewed as a forerunner to Slipknot. Along with guitarist Jim Root, Taylor formed Stone Sour in the mid-‘90s before joining the better known masked rockers.

Fans of Slipknot may think they’re catching a low-budget version of their favorite band at a Stone Sour show, but Taylor and Root have something else in mind. The most obvious difference is the absence of trademark Slipknot masks. Taylor also picks up the guitar (which he doesn’t do in his primary band) and embraces tunes with a bit less rage.

Stone Sour recently released their debut album and have seen their first single, “Bother,” rocket to the top of the charts.

Chevelle have been busy on the road this year after a two-year absence from touring. Since the start of 2002, they’ve supported Local H, rocked with the best at Ozzfest, and are now onboard the Stone Sour outing.

Their sophomore disc, Wonder What’s Next, was released this month.
