The auction will take place on eBay from December 12-19 with all proceeds benefitting the organization.

So, which artists have donated their creative skills to the project? Oh, just Tom Morello of Audioslave, Blink 182/Box Car Racer, Missy Elliot, Blondie, Foo Fighters, The Hives, The Roots, Pearl Jam, The Chemical Brothers, Moby, Neptunes/N-E-R-D, System Of A Down, Alanis Morrisette, Offspring, Fischerspooner, Kelly Osbourne, and Tony Hawk. That’s who.

The Zoo York Skateboard decks will be custom made by the musicians. Also included in the auction is other artist memorabilia.

“Musicians have been instrumental in raising awareness about human rights and motivating people to effect positive change,” Dr. William F. Schultz of Amnesty International USA said. “By working with popular artists, Amnesty International hopes to expand the grassroots movement that during our 41-year history has helped free 45,000 political prisoners.

“The support of these artists will bolster Amnesty International’s reach to young activists, who are critical to the movement for social change.”

The auction is the latest of a series of events under the Amnesty International Music For Human Rights umbrella. Through concerts, CDs, and special events, artists across the spectrum of contemporary music are helping Amnesty to energize a new generation to take action and defend human rights around the world.

The Music For Human Rights initiative was launched August 21 with a sold-out concert in Los Angeles that featured Beth Orton, Aimee Mann, members of Coldplay, and Mos Def.
