Included on the itinerary are two multi-night stands. Chicago will host the band for three nights at The Abbey Pub while the Palais Royale in Toronto – the only Canadian gig scheduled – nabs them for two shows.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor (GYBE) are a difficult band to gather news on. For one, they’re notorious for not giving interviews and they’re constantly adding or subtracting members, so it’s nearly impossible to keep track of who’s who. But all this mystery only makes them a fan favorite among those with penchants for bands who have more than three chord, two-minute-long songs.

Since their debut in 1994 with a self-released cassette tape (true garage band style), the band have stamped a name for themselves with their scenic music, which is often accentuated by visual or film images. The members’ anonymity helps keep the focus on GYBE’s music – not an altogether bad thing.

GYBE released their latest album, Yanqui U.X.O., in November. The disc follows 2000’s Lift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas To Heaven!.
