The group is expected to perform selected songs from the new album, Other People’s Songs, as well as favorites from their 15-year career. The record – Erasure’s first since 2000’s Loveboat – is a covers collection and features the duo’s unique take on some of their favorite songs. The album sports covers of material by Peter Gabriel, the Righteous Brothers, Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley and others.

It’s been a good five years since Erasure have toured, period. They were last in the States back in ‘97 when supporting their Cowboy album.

At the end of the ‘90s, Vince Clarke became reluctant to tour, even to the point of setting up shows so he could play “virtually” from his garden shed. However, he’s now keen to get out on the road.

“I feel a lot better about myself generally in life,” Clarke said. “I feel more positive, lots of interesting things are going on, so I think if you’ve got a good spirit, then touring isn’t as bad. I’ve been looking at the dates and thinking, ‘That’s going to be quite exciting!'”

And exciting it will be. The group has planned a full-on Erasure extravaganza, complete with Edwardian costume to honor the era when the gramophone was invented. The duo will gradually change wardrobe up to present day.

Although they’ve been largely absent from the public eye, the band has hardly been forgotten. They remain a staple on radio, thanks to continued resurgence in ‘80s music, and are constantly putting out new material.
