“I just had a checkup with Dr. Ossoff and he was very pleased with my progress. I was completely silent for two weeks – yes me – completely silent, and now I am able to talk just a small amount, which will gradually increase every day until I am back to my old self, but without the weight on my vocal cords,” Newfield said in a post on the band’s Web site.

“I am doing great and just getting ready to get back out there, feeling totally rested with new vocal cords and a brand new single.”

Apparently, singing for hours every night for years takes a toll on one’s vocal cords.

Dates prior to May 1 have been rescheduled on account of Newfield’s surgery and are reflected in the new tour, which launches May 2. The summer run will find the band visiting state and country fairs across the States, well into the fall.

The band have a stack of Grammy and Country Music Award nominations to boast about. In addition to a Grammy nod, Trick Pony were just nominated for five CMAs, including album of the year for On A Mission and top vocal group.
