On May 2, the group – Raul Malo, Robert Reynolds and Paul Deakin – will play their first show together in three years at Nashville River Stages. A few more public performances are in the works, although they’ve yet to be confirmed, before a world tour launches in the fall.

The Mavericks unofficially split in the late ‘90s when the three members began pursuing their individual musical interests. Malo recorded a solo album and toured as a solo artist as well as with Los Super Seven, and Deakin joined with Reynolds and Jerry Dale McFadden to form Swag. While their individual efforts were successful, they each eventually found themselves missing the Mavericks.

Now, newly reunited and signed to Sanctuary Records, the Mavericks are heading back to the studio to record an album. It’ll be their first in six years and they’re expecting a September release.
