“We are so excited about the new tour,” lead singer Art Alexakis said in a post on the band’s Web site. “We plan on staying on the road all year. So, if this first tour misses you, I would expect we will come to your town sometime soon.”

While dates right now stretch through mid-May, many more are said to be forthcoming.

In the post, Alexakis also addressed the rumors concerning the band’s future fate, putting to rest any fans’ fears.

“I know a lot of people are asking about the future of the band and I’m here to say there could very well be another record, but it will not sound like Sparkle And Fade. Hopefully it won’t sound like any of our records.

“I have an idea [of] what I want to do – more of a stripped-down, less-produced, less-bombastic record and if the band and I decide it should be an Everclear record, then it will.

“For now though, we are looking forward to playing these new songs.”

Everclear last toured in 2001 when they supported matchbox twenty. Although the band has been off the road, working on new material since then, leader Alexakis has kept in the spotlight with some solo work, including a mini-tour.
