Summer With NBC
NBC’s “Today” show likes solstice months so much they’ve got concerts on their summer concert series scheduled clear through October. The newly dubbed Toyota Concert Series launched April 18 with a set by Fleetwood Mac outside the show’s New York studios at Rockefeller Center in midtown Manhattan.
Dates run through October 3 when R.E.M. are set to perform. Other artists filling in the blanks include Jewel, Mariah Carey, Train, Beyonce Knowles, Annie Lennox, Ashanti, Shania Twain, LL Cool J, Amy Grant, Alan Jackson, Michelle Branch, and Sting. Additional performers will be announced throughout the season.
The concerts are free to those willing to get up early enough and catch their favorite artist. The gigs are broadcast live during “Today,” which airs between 7-10 a.m., Eastern Time. Most of the performances will take place on Friday, although there are a couple of Thursday gigs on the books.
