Evan Dando Avoids Boredom
Seven years after the Lemonheads’ last album, Car Button Cloth, head ‘Head Evan Dando has finally polished off a solo album and is hitting the stages all by himself. Dando’s solo outing spans both sides of the Atlantic from now through June.
Some of the highlights on Dando’s tour include three shows in Ireland; a week’s worth in the U.K.; a good handful of gigs in Europe; and a whole month of North American club dates.
Dando’s solo album Baby, I’m Bored, which was just released in his homeland, has received fairly favorable reviews. The disc is Dando’s first full-length solo studio album. Prior to that, he’d released Live At The Brattle Theatre/Griffith Sunset, which was a mix of originals and covers.
Around that time, in 2001, Dando also launched a solo acoustic tour and linked up with former Smashing Pumpkins members James Iha and Melissa Auf Der Maur to form the Virgins, which were short-lived.
