Their new album, Amazing Grace, is set for a September 8 release, and the group will embark on a mammoth fall tour that same week.

The transatlantic trek kicks off in Northampton, U.K., on September 10. They’ll do a week of U.K. dates before filling out the month with some European gigs. Then it’s over to North America, where they’ll put in nearly six weeks’ worth of their trademark dream-rock before wrapping things up in Atlanta just before Thanksgiving.

Though Jason Pierce is the frontman and songwriting force behind Spiritualized, he refuses to let anyone discount the importance of his bandmates.

The group toured for a full year behind their last release, Let It Come Down, and, as Pierce recently told The Independent, “What it’s like to play in Spiritualized is that people are free to contribute whatever, and it wasn’t until halfway through the last tour that the band began to realize that.

“But things took off then, and there’s nothing like it. It’s totally unlike six contributions in sound – like someone opens up the roof and all this sound just pours in.”

Amazing Grace reportedly eschews the symphonic laments of Let It Come Down in favor of a full-on guitar assault. A special sneak-preview series of three limited-edition vinyl EPs, comprising all of the album’s tracks, will be released this month.
