Starting things off with a band in Australia September 25, Mayer will play theatres Downunder for four shows – with supporting – before heading North of the equator to launch his North American tour October 8 in Canada.

It’s shaping up to be one big arena outing that’ll take Mayer around the Eastern parts of the States and Canada through the end of November. No supporting acts or West Coast dates have been announced yet. It looks like tickets for select shows will go on sale starting September 12.

Mayer has just released his second major label album, Heavier Things. The record follows on the hot heels of his Grammy Award-winning Room For Squares. In between the two, he released a live album and re-released his indie debut, Inside Wants Out.

“I’d say Heavier Things is catching up to the kind of attention I’d gotten from making Room For Squares,” Mayer told Billboard. “When something takes off like that, it becomes your calling card for life, but it’s just one piece from one period of my life.”
