Detroit’s favorite ambiguous rock duo The White Stripes are headed overseas for some lovin’ in January. The mini-tour finds the Stripes keeping mainly to U.K. venues, but they’ve cleared room in their schedule for a gig in France at the end.
Half of the band’s Brit shows are two-night stands.
This is just another succession of concerts for the busy twosome. The band recently wrapped a North American outing that saw Whirlwind Heat supporting the largely sold-out arena and theatre run.
However, it’s not been the most restful of breaks for lead singer/guitarist Jack White. White was involved in an argument with Von Bondies star Jason Stollsteimer December 13 at Detroit’s Magic Stick that eventually came to blows.
According to Reuters, Stollsteimer said White pulled him to the ground and repeatedly punched his right eye, while White claims he was defending himself after being choked by Stollsteimer. Both have filed complaints with the Detroit police.
When he’s not putting on gigs and getting into fights, White is lending his musical prowess to the movie scene. He contributed five tracks to the “Cold Mountain” soundtrack, which is hotly tipped for Oscar status and features his movie star girlfriend Renee Zellweger. Just a little celeb trivia for ya.
