By mid-February, he’ll be bouncing all around the South, with gigs in Mississippi, Alabama, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina, and Georgia.

The tour wraps February 27 in Athens, Ga., after which he’s scheduled to make an appearance at Reliant Stadium’s annual RodeoHouston festival. The event – which takes place, of course, in Houston, Texas – runs for three weeks and features a slew of musical performers as well as daily rodeo competitions and livestock shows.

Although his last release, 2003’s Wave on Wave, was only his second for Republic/Universal, Green has been making noise for quite some time. Rather than spending his early years struggling for a major-label deal, Green built a solid reputation through relentless gigging and six independent albums, four of which were released on his own label.
