Fingers Around The World
Punk veterans Stiff Little Fingers have some serious staying power. The band was formed in 1977 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and has, with the exception of a five-year hiatus in the mid-‘80s, been touring and recording ever since. This year, the band has dates planned for the U.S., Italy, and the U.K.
They’ll start things off with a week of Stateside shows in February, primarily in and around the East Coast. Dropkick Murphys will appear on most of those dates. At the end of the month, SLF will tour Italy before heading up to the U.K. for a 16-show run in March.
The band’s Web site, www.slf.com, also lists Australia as a “maybe” for sometime later this year.
The Fingers’ latest studio recording, Guitar & Drum, was five years in the making. Frontman Jake Burns calls it “a bit of a return to our roots but with the odd surprise.” Unfortunately for Stateside fans, the album has yet to reach U.S. shelves, although EMI released it in the U.K. last fall.
