The two idols sound pretty dang excited about the outing. Says Clarkson, “I’m really pumped about touring with Clay and can’t wait to get out and see all the fans.”

Aiken adds, “Kelly and I are thrilled about sharing a stage for this momentous next step in both of our careers.”

Since gaining prominence on Fox’s “American Idol,” 2002 winner Clarkson and 2003 runner-up Aiken have found considerable – albeit unsurprising – commercial success. Both singers’ albums entered the Billboard charts at No. 1, and Clarkson is nominated for best female pop vocal in the upcoming Grammy Awards.

When pressed to speak on the “American Idol” phenomenon, Aiken told mtv.com, “I think the public is looking for something that they can call their own, and that’s part of the reason that ‘American Idol’ and Ruben (Studdard) and Kelly and myself have been successful, because we’ve been able to be an artist that the public can relate to. And hopefully we’ll continue to be someone that they can relate to.”

Yeah, whatever you say, dude. Tickets for the tour go on sale January 24.
