Darkness Falls On U.S.
They’re nominated for four Brit Awards and their album has surprised their own label execs with its skyrocketing position on U.S. charts. They’re known for their unapologetically retro power-rock and brazen, let-it-all-out live shows. So why would The Darkness opt to re-record the vocals on Permission To Land, eliminating the swear words so as not to offend some American shoppers?
Citing his replacement of the famous F-word with “duck,” singer Justin Hawkins explained, “You can either take the nonsensical approach to it all, or you can try doing something that still makes some sense. I prefer the nonsensical approach.”
Take that as you will. Anyway, the suddenly ubiquitous band has announced its first major U.S. tour, which will see the flamboyant rockers headlining Stateside clubs and theatres beginning March 26 with Milwaukee’s Rave Bar. The tour will hit both coasts and plenty of spots in between by the time it wraps April 19 in Denver.
