Afterglowing
With her new album, Afterglow, passing the double-platinum mark, Canadian chanteuse Sarah McLachlan has announced her first North American tour in five years. The album entered the charts with the best first-week sales of her career, and she made a host of television appearances in November and December, including a spot on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.”
Starting July 5 at Seattle’s Key Arena, she’ll be gigging relentlessly through the summer, with a healthy amount of Canadian dates included. She’ll wrap at home in Vancouver September 10.
Afterglow is McLachlan’s first studio album since 1997’s Surfacing. She’s kept a relatively low profile since 1999, when she released the live album Mirrorball, but don’t think she hasn’t been busy. In addition to giving birth to a daughter and writing and recording Afterglow, she founded the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach Program, which supports music education programs in inner-city schools.
