Afterglow is McLachlan’s first studio album since 1997’s Surfacing. She’s kept a relatively low profile since 1999, when she released the live album Mirrorball, but don’t think she hasn’t been busy. In addition to giving birth to a daughter and writing and recording Afterglow, she founded the Sarah McLachlan Music Outreach Program, which supports music education programs in inner-city schools.
