Electric Six
No word on how those sessions are going, but the Detroit sextet will be ready to rock come April 21, when a new round of dates begins at the Double Door in Chicago. They’ll head to the West Coast and back, making room for a May 1 set at the Coachella Festival in Indio, Calif., before wrapping in Northfield, Minn., May 22.
This summer, they plan to go international with U.K. gigs in June and a couple of Australian dates in July.
Electric Six began as The Wildbunch in 1996. After a few low-profile releases, they scored a No. 2 U.K. single in 2001 with “Danger! High Voltage,” featuring White Stripe/future Oscar nominee Jack White.
XL/Beggars Group re-released “Danger” as an EP in February 2003, and issued their debut full-length, Fire, in May.
The group – which now consists of singer/dancer Dick Valentine, drummer M., keyboardist Tait Nucleus, bassist John R. Dequindre and guitarists The Colonel and Johnny Na$hinal – did no less than five European legs last year, filling in the gaps with stretches in North America and Japan.
