Fantomas Fires Up
Prolific singer Mike Patton has never been one to sit back and let his vocal cords rest. For years, he was a full-time member of Faith No More and Mr. Bungle, while finding room for two solo albums and a host of collaborations and guest appearances.
His latest project, all-star experimental metal outfit Fantomas, is now five years running and set to tour behind its new album. The band kicks off a monthlong trek March 24 with a free in-store performance at Amoeba Records in Hollywood. They’re scheduled to loop back to Los Angeles for the closer April 22.
The supergroup consists of vocalist Patton, guitarist Buzz Osborne (Melvins), drummer Dave Lombardo (Slayer) and bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle). They last toured in 2001 with Tool.
The third Fantomas album, Delirium Cordia, was released in January on Patton’s Ipecac Recordings. The disc consists of one 74-minute track, “Surgical Sound Specimens From The Museum Of Skin.”
