Coming To Your Country
As veteran pub-rockers go, you don’t get much more authentic than Graham Parker. The British singer/songwriter has been playing his acerbic brand of rock’n’roll for at least three full decades and, by the looks of things, he may just be getting started.
This spring, he’s touring the U.S. in support of his new album, Your Country, delivered this month on Chicago’s Bloodshot Records.
The tour, which sticks mostly to the Northeast and Midwest, runs from April 16 in Philadelphia to May 4 in St. Louis. The itinerary includes stops at prominent clubs including Detroit’s Magic Stick and New York City’s Knitting Factory.
He’ll warm up with a March 20 appearance at Antone’s in Austin for the South by Southwest conference.
Bloodshot Records calls the new album “insurgent country,” with Parker offering his take on Americana through a series of roots-rock vignettes, including a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Sugaree” and a duet with Lucinda Williams.
