Walking With The Beggar Boys
Athens, Ga., has spawned a wealth of bands in the form of the Elephant 6 indie collective. Elf Power has always been one of the group’s more eclectic affiliates, with founders/multi-instrumentalists Andrew Rieger and Laura Carter churning out an ever-evolving blend of psychedelic pop.
They enlisted former Olivia Tremor Control guitarist Eric Harris and bassist Craig McQuiston of The Glands for their latest effort, Walking With The Beggar Boys. Although the album finds them charting a more traditional rock course, their quirks and idiosyncrasies are as present as ever.
Elf Power has just embarked on a tour of the eastern U.S., which runs through early May. On May 11, fellow Athens natives Summer Hymns will join up and the bands will make their way westward. The tour wraps May 29 in Memphis, Tenn.
Summer Hymns are supporting their new EP, Value Series Vol. 1: Fool’s Gold.
