Still Old Friends
It started with a performance at the Grammys in February 2003, then grew into a full-fledged reunion tour. Now Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel are defying their own predictions and heading out on another Simon & Garfunkel trek.
The Old Friends tour continues this summer with dates announced in Albany, N.Y., Uncasville, Conn., Philadelphia, Buffalo, N.Y., Cincinnati, Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Many more shows are promised.
Before last year’s concerts, the two hadn’t teamed up since 1993. Prior to that, their last tour was in 1983.
Simon predicted in September that, given the usual pattern, last fall’s tour would likely be the duo’s last. However, it appears that the success of the outing has breathed new life into the partnership.
Last year’s run grossed more than $68 million, with nearly every show sold out.
