The group is supporting last year’s Cuatro Caminos, which won a Grammy for best Latin rock / alternative album. The disc was produced by longtime collaborator Gustavo Santaolalla with Dave Fridmann (The Flaming Lips, Mercury Rev) and Andrew Weiss (Ween), and has garnered comparisons to the Beatles’ White Album, Radiohead’s Kid A, and other critical faves.

The current itinerary runs through early August and includes a stop at Anaheim, Calif.’s festival July 24. La Ley, Paulina Rubio, and a host of others will also perform at the Arrowhead Pond event.

Café Tacuba formed in the early ’90s near Mexico City. The group’s eclectic blend of Latin rock, which includes elements of ska, punk, hip-hop and countless other influences, attracted the attention of Warner Bros. and the band soon became one of Latin America’s most popular acts.

The group – comprising Elfego Buendía, Emmanuel Del Real, Enrique Rangel, and Joselo Rangel – switched to Universal/MCA last year for Cuatro Caminos, their fifth album.

Last fall, the band’s U.S. tour saw them selling out venues including The Fillmore in San Francisco and Cambridge, Mass.’ Middle East.
