Ozo Hits The Streets
Back in the mid-’90s, an eclectic array of young men calling themselves Ozomatli began receiving notice for their energetic performances, many of them at a Los Angeles club called Dragonfly.
Their self-titled 1998 debut brought them widespread acclaim, and 2001’s Embrace The Chaos added considerable fuel to the fire. The third Ozomatli album, Street Signs, comes out this June, and they’re celebrating by kicking off their summer tour with three shows at their original haunt.
Dragonfly will host the “Afro-Latin-and-beyond” group June 21-23, after which they’ll pound the pavement throughout several continents for at least ten weeks. Their summer itinerary includes stops in Australia, Japan, half a dozen European countries and, of course, North America.
