While the band spends Labor Day in the U.K., it heads back across the Pond for a month of concerts in primarily the Northeast and South, hitting college towns like Boston, New Haven, Conn.; Towson, Md.; and Raleigh, N.C.

The Spine marks TMBG’s 10th studio album in the band’s long career, but it’s not the only one they’ve appeared on this year.

The band, probably best known for its theme music from “Malcolm In The Middle,” was a moving force behind Future Soundtrack For America – a compilation disc put together by the band’s John Flansburgh and featuring R.E.M., Blink-182, and Fountains of Wayne.

The CD benefits political advocacy group MoveOn.org and other like-minded organizations.
