The band will play an album release party in Los Angeles October 5th before the full-on tour launch at Boston’s Orpheum two days later. Femme-rappers Northern State support.

With 15 dates penciled in so far, Cake plans to hit clubs and theatres in New York City, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Pittsburgh, Detroit, Toronto, Minneapolis and Chicago.

Pressure Chief is the band’s first release since 2001’s Comfort Eagle – Cake’s best-selling disc to date.

Sacramento-based Cake has displayed a quirky streak since its 1994 debut album, Motorcade of Generosity.

The band continues to dish out helpings of the unexpected, including playing a gig earlier this year at Bakersfield, Calif.’s honky tonk mecca, the Crystal Palace, sharing the stage with legendary owner Buck Owens.
