The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players will set out October 10 with a gig at B.B. King’s Blues Club in New York City. The family’s itinerary is packed through November 20, when they play the Echo Lounge in Atlanta.

And yes, there is an explanation for the tour’s name. The Trachtenburgs – dad Jason on keyboards and vocals, mom Tina Piña on vintage carousel slide projector, and 10-year-old daughter Rachel Piña on drums – are calling on audience members at every show to bring several yards of vintage fabric to potentially be used to construct the band’s next set of stage costumes. The costumes will be designed, as always, by Tina Piña herself.

The band is promising to showcase songs from its upcoming sophomore album, The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players, Vol. 2: Adventures In Middle America. Papa Jason called the album “a bit of a departure from our previous record. It’s a little bit darker, a little bit heavier, more rock.”

In addition, Rachel has branched out and picked up the bass, which she’ll be playing along with drums on the tour.
