New Rooms For Griffith
She’s acclaimed for her own songs as well as for interpreting others, and Nanci Griffith is ready to take that catalog to her fans both here and overseas. Griffith, who’s often mentioned in the same breath as folk songwriters John Prine and Steve Goodman, plans to visit the West Coast in February before heading to the U.K.
Starting in Santa Cruz, Calif., February 11, Griffith travels to San Francisco, Beverly Hills, Seattle, Portland and other West Coast cities before visiting Colorado for three dates in early March. Then, it’s off to England in April, with shows in Bristol, York, Newcastle and Nottingham, among other cities, ending up at Edinburgh, Scotland’s Usher Hall April 24.
Despite five Grammy nominations, including a win for her vocal performance on a Chieftans album, it was Griffith’s Other Voices, Other Rooms – her 1993 album devoted to songs by the likes of Prine, Kate Wolf and Bob Dylan – that got her the most attention.
