Russell Takes Fifth

Jack Russell of Great White has refused to answer allegations in civil suits involving the February 2003 fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick, R.I.

Great White launched pyrotechnics inside the small club, which initiated a series of events that resulted in 100 deaths and about 200 people injured.

Russell’s lawyers said in U.S. District Court papers that the singer “faces a real possibility of criminal prosecution” and has asserted his Fifth Amendment privilege. There are eight civil lawsuits pending in the case.

Meanwhile, Rhode Island Attorney General Patrick Lynch reportedly said there is currently no open grand jury investigation regarding the fire.
