Rodriguez Sues Ex-Manager

Comedian Paul Rodriguez has filed a $1 million lawsuit against his former manager, Scott Montoya, over ownership of “The Original Latin Kings of Comedy” film and a resulting distribution deal.

The lawsuit, filed February 10th, accuses Montoya and his company, Payaso Entertainment, of forging Rodriguez’s signature on a contract and negotiating a distribution deal with Paramount Pictures after the two men agreed in 2001 to split the movie profits.

The agreement allegedly gives Montoya, who was hired in 1997, control of the production and makes Rodriguez an “employee,” according to the suit.

The comedian said he found out about the alleged deception in October.
