Or, to be more precise, we’ve been thinking about thinking about tour dates. And, while we were doing all that thinking, we started wondering if it’s possible to think too much about thinking about tour dates.

In other words, we were thinking that there may be a problem.

You see, we were thinking that thinking about tour dates, such as The Starting Line in Providence on April 10, might be a warning sign, a harbinger indicating that thinking about thinking about tour dates could be indicative of a deeper problem. And when you consider how many tour dates we list on this Web site, a problem related to thinking about all those tour dates could definitely lead to something bigger. For example, a bigger problem.

Oh, sure, it starts innocently enough. You start thinking about a single tour date, like Joe Bonamassa in Davenport on July 1, and pretty soon you’re thinking about Funky Meters and ZOEgirl, and Tucson and Minneapolis. Then, before you know it, you’re thinking about Weezer, Suzanne Vega and The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Germany, Japan and Belgium. And then? Well, you can probably guess where this is leading. That’s right. One helluva problem.

So, we tried to work it out. We tried to wrap our brain around the concept that thinking about thinking about tour dates might mean that something isn’t quite right, and that we should be thinking about something else. However, we know from experience that it’s really hard to think about something else when you’re spending every waking moment thinking about thinking about tour dates. At least, that’s what we thought.

So we went to our psychiatrist, and we told him about all this thinking. We told him about our concerns that thinking about thinking about tour dates might be an indication that there’s a few loose screws banging around between the ears, that the proverbial elevator isn’t stopping on all the floors whenever the lights are on and nobody’s home. That thinking about thinking about dates for Lily Tomlin, Jazz Jamaica and Cult Of Luna might mean less time is spent thinking about other things. In short, we expressed our concerns that all this thinking about thinking about tour dates could be a real problem.

The shrink mulled it over for a while. He thought about thinking about tour dates. And then he thought about thinking about thinking about tour dates. And then he thought about whether a person should spend as much time as we described thinking about thinking about the latest schedules for Motley Crue and Steel Pulse. And do you know what he told us?

That’s right. He told us that we definitely need to think this through.

At least, that’s what he thinks. However, we think he thinks too much.
