George Scott Dies

George Scott, 75, a founding member of gospel group The Blind Boys of Alabama, died March 9th of complications and a heart condition, according to Clarence Fountain, the band’s frontman.

Scott’s death came shortly after the Blind Boys of Alabama won its fourth consecutive Grammy award.

The group won Best Traditional Gospel Album for There Will Be Light, which was recorded with Ben Harper.

Scott, who was not well enough to tour with the band since last year, planned to rejoin the group for a live show in the spring with release of a new album, Atom Bomb.
