Death Penalty In Bishop Case

Glenn Helzer and Justin Helzer have been sentenced to death for killing Elvin Bishop‘s 22-year-old daughter, Selina, and four other people during a grisly extortion and murder spree in the summer of 2000.

Judge Mary Ann O’Malley of Contra Costa County in California sentenced the brothers in separate hearings after two juries voted for the death penalty for each of the accused.

The Helzer brothers and their roommate, Dawn Godman, killed Bishop, her mother, her mother’s companion, and an elderly couple during a convoluted attempt to extort money to begin a self-help group.
