Lifeson Trial Date Set

A trial date has been set for Alex Lifeson, the Rush guitarist who faces assault charges stemming from a 2004 New Year’s altercation with deputies in a Florida hotel.

Lifeson is scheduled to stand trial May 16th for allegedly pushing a female deputy down a hotel stairwell and spitting blood on a male officer, according to the Naples Daily News.

He faces two third-degree felony charges that could carry five-year prison sentences.

A judge can accept a plea agreement during an April 27th hearing.

Neither Lifeson’s attorney nor the prosecutor in the case is commenting on whether a plea deal is in the works.
