Court Upholds TM Ruling

Ticketmaster won another round in court April 11th when the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a 2003 decision by a federal judge to dismiss Tickets.com‘s countersuit on antitrust claims.

Tickets.com had maintained that Ticketmaster’s multi-year exclusive contracts stifled competition and were in violation of federal antitrust laws. The appeals court agreed with the previous ruling that the contracts are legal and allow for fair competition, according to the Los Angeles Business Journal.

The dispute began in 1999, when Ticketmaster sued Tickets.com in an intellectual property dispute. A judge dismissed the bulk of that suit but Tickets.com countersued soon after.
