Meyer Joins Folk Alliance

Louis Jay Meyers has been named executive director of the non-profit Folk Alliance. He replaces Phyllis Barney, who will step down June 30th.

His new duties will include relocating the organization’s headquarters to Memphis, Tenn.

Previously, Meyers was a co-founder and director of South By Southwest, and helped organize two conferences — New Orleans’ LMNOP music conference and the Netherland’s Access to Amsterdam.

Most recently, he was general manager for the Austin Music Network and creative director for Austin Community Television.
