Fracas Following Nelly Concert

Several fights and a shooting following a Nelly concert at the Aladdin Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas May 21st have police trying to sort out if the incidents are related.

Three people were wounded, three arrested and several guns confiscated within a couple of hours after the concert ended, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

Officers responded around midnight to a report of several fights at a mall inside the Aladdin complex after Nelly’s performance, followed by a report of shots fired in the casino’s parking garage.

Upon arrival, police found a man who had been shot in the buttocks. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Police also said three guns were found in the vicinity of the Aladdin, but have yet to determine how they got there.

A couple of hours later, police responded to another report of fighting about a block away. Two people were hit after about 10 shots were fired into a small crowd, the paper said.

Aladdin spokeswoman Amy Sadowsky told the Review-Journal that security was high at Nelly’s concert, which drew about 6,600 people.

“We believe our security was adequate, because we had no incidents in the concert venue or in the casino. The incidents didn’t occur on our property,” Sadowsky said. “At every concert, we pay a lot of attention to security.”
