Clear Channel’s Electric Ads

Daktronics, one of the world’s biggest suppliers of electronic scoreboards and large screen video displays, has signed an agreement with Clear Channel Communications to build seven electronic billboards in the Cleveland area.

The overall cost will be $3 million, and advertisers will buy time rather than location.

A standard eight-second ad playing every minute for a month will cost about $33,000, Clear Channel Outdoor division president Bill Platko told aka.tv.

It is believed to be the first step toward transforming billboard ads to a time-based platform nationwide.
