Moscow Added To Live 8

Live 8 has expanded to nine – countries, that is – with the addition of a concert in Moscow’s Red Square. The lineup is yet to be confirmed, according to the event Web site.

Additional performers have also been added to previously announced concerts in the July 2nd worldwide effort to pressure world leaders to act against extreme poverty.

With less than a week remaining before the shows, Alicia Keys,Black Eyed Peas, Josh Groban, Def Leppard, and Toby Keith have been added to the bill in Philadelphia.

Bjork and Good Charlotte have been confirmed for the Tokyo gig, and Neil Young has been announced as the closer for the Toronto edition of Live 8.

Other shows will take place in Johannesburg, Paris, Berlin, Rome, Edinburgh and London.

All told, the event actually comprises 10 concerts on July 2nd – including a smaller gig at the Eden Project in southwest England that will feature African bands.

There is also a Live 8-organized event scheduled in Scotland July 6th to coincide with the opening in Gleneagles of a conference with the group of eight industrialized nations, better known as the G8.
