James Brown Lawsuit Dismissed

A judge has dismissed a $106 million lawsuit against James Brown in which a Chicago woman claimed the singer raped her at gunpoint 17 years ago and the stress caused her to contract Graves’ disease.

Judge Sidney Schenkier dismissed Jacque Hollander’s complaint June 29th because the lawsuit wasn’t filed within two years of the alleged incident.

Brown’s attorney, Debra Opri, said the soul legend never raped the plaintiff and the suit was “another case of a ‘grifter’ looking for a quick buck.”

Hollander’s attorney, Donald Rosen, said his client will appeal. He acknowledged the statute of limitations had run out, but argued the case was still valid because Hollander wasn’t diagnosed with Graves’ disease until 2000.
