Clear Channel Gets Wired

Clear Channel Music Group, in a survey conducted earlier in the year, found that 70 percent of those polled get their concert information online. So, to help tap that market, CCMG has teamed with Yahoo! Music to promote some 150 concerts this summer.

Under the marketing agreement, Yahoo! will feature Clear Channel concert information throughout its network. Special banner advertising will be sent to Yahoo! users based on demographic and zip code information.

The program will also be targeted to ensure those fans get information on the concerts and ticket availability for the shows they’re most interested in, including announcements of new tours.

Tours participating in the program to date include Coldplay, Dave Matthews Band, Toby Keith, James Taylor, Ozzfest, Green Day, Warped Tour, Mötley Crüe, and Avril Lavigne.

“The Internet has become a primary information source for concert fans and that prompted us to shake up traditional concert marketing,” CCMG CEO/President Michael Rapino said in the joint announcement.

“Yahoo! Music is the top online music site in North America with unmatched audience reach of up to 25 million unique users per month.”
