Jets Stadium Nixed

It’s all over but the shouting for the New York Jets’ dream stadium.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg fought valiantly for the proposed $2 billion facility that he hoped would help New York City land the 2012 Olympics, to no avail.

The Jets reportedly said they’ve dropped their 10-year fight to build a stadium on the city’s West Side and will continue to play at Giants Stadium for the foreseeable future.

Meanwhile, developer Bruce Ratner has reportedly doubled his bid price for a stadium plot in Brooklyn to $100 million.

Ratner wants to build the new venue for the New Jersey Nets on land owned by the Metropolitan Transit Authority – which also owns the land that the Jets were eyeing.
