McCready Bailed Out

Mindy McCready told a Tennessee court September 19th she violated her probation on a drug conviction and tried to commit suicide because she found out she was pregnant.

The 29-year-old country singer was in court to appeal the terms of a $50,000 bail agreement she made to stay out of jail.

McCready testified she went to Florida in July to see her family and regroup from the series of problems she’d been having, including her drunken driving arrest in Nashville in May and a beating by her boyfriend, William McKnight.

She was arrested by Florida police August 26th following treatment for the suicide attempt and spent 10 days in a Tennessee jail.

The bail terms require McCready to stay within 50 miles of Williamson County, wear an ankle bracelet monitor, submit to random drug screens, meet with a probation officer twice a week, and remain home between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m.

The performer appealed the arrangement because it would conflict with her appearance on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” at the end of the month.

A judge told McCready he’d allow her to break curfew with a probation officer’s permission but the bail terms would remain as is. McCready is also required to serve eight hours a month toward a 200-hour community service sentence.

She is scheduled to face trial on the probation violation November 14th.
