Nods For AMAs

Nominations for this winter’s American Music Awards are led by Mariah Carey, with Kelly Clarkson, 50 Cent and Green Day in second place.

Carey was nominated four times, getting nods for favorite album and singer in the soul and pop categories. Other multiple nominees are Black Eyed Peas, Destiny’s Child, Eminem, Fantasia, Toby Keith, Tim McGraw and Gretchen Wilson.

Gwen Stefani joined Carey and Clarkson in the top female artist category, and 3 Doors Down, Black Eyed Peas, and Green Day were nominated for favorite band, duo or group.

New artist John Legend must have already outgrown that mantle. Although he was not nominated in the new artist category (which includes The Killers, Jesse McCartney, and Sugarland), Legend is in the running for male R&B artist along with R. Kelly and Omarion. Male pop/rock artist nominees are 50 Cent, Will Smith and Rob Thomas.

Country artists nominated in various categories include Kenny Chesney, Toby Keith, Martina McBride, LeAnn Rimes, Big & Rich, Brooks & Dunn, and Rascal Flatts. Latin noms include Daddy Yankee, Luis Miguel and Shakira.

The American Music Awards, hosted by Cedric The Entertainer, is scheduled for Los Angeles’ Shrine Auditorium November 22nd, with ABC broadcasting.
