Brian Wilson’s Dialing For Dollars

Brian Wilson spent the second half of September making phone calls in an effort to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief.

A fan apparently didn’t believe the founding Beach Boy was involved with a fund-raising effort on BrianWilson.com and e-mailed Wilson.

“So I called him up!” Wilson said. “I was surprised that he said he didn’t think I was involved because I really was.”

Wilson and his wife got a brainstorm: Why not have the legendary artist call up everyone who donated at least $100?

He matched the contributions through October 1st. Takers gave Wilson a time to call between 7 a.m. and 9:30 p.m.

Wilson said he’d talked to about 15 people; most were fans who wanted to say hello or ask questions about his music.
