Free Speech Issue At Freedom Hall?

Ludacris finally performed for some 5,000 fans in Johnson City, Tenn., October 27th, though not at the venue where the show was originally scheduled.

After weeks of bickering between city officials, the concert was moved from the city-owned Freedom Hall Civic Center to East Tennessee State University’s Memorial Center.

City Manager Pete Peterson said he rejected the rapper’s original contract over “security concerns.”

But many students thought the city rejected the contract because of Ludacris’ lyrical content, which includes profanity, drug references, violence and misogyny.
