Starting with the San Francisco Symphony March 27 at Davies Symphony Hall, Costello and longtime collaborator Steve Nieve will perform two sets. First will come Costello’s full-length orchestral work, “Il Sogno,” followed by an intermission and a career-spanning set of his pop/rock hits.

The U.S. dates stretch through mid-May, with seven cities on the itinerary, including Houston; North Bethesda, Md.; two nights in Baltimore; Boston; Brooklyn and Atlanta.

The symphony hall tour will reportedly be preceded by dates around the world, beginning in January, although no overseas shows have been confirmed.

Costello will release My Flame Burns Blue, a live album recorded at The Hague with The Netherlands’ 52-piece Metropol Orkest, on Deutsche Grammophon February 28. A bonus disc features a 45-minute suite from “Il Sogno.”
