Wilson ‘Lit’ Waters Jr. Dies

Wilson “Lit” Waters Jr., a member of Grammy-winning gospel group The Fairfield Four, died of cancer November 24th at his Nashville home.

Waters, 74, joined the group in 1982 after recording and performing with The Skylarks. He and The Fairfield Four earned two Grammy awards and recorded with Elvis Costello, Steve Earle, John Fogerty, the Del McCoury Band and others.

The gospel group contributed to the film and soundtrack of “O Brother Where Art Thou?” and Waters appears near the end of the film, digging a grave and singing “Lonesome Valley.”
